1. You must be over 18 years oldGoogle Ads

In general, you should at least have control over the content of your website. If you post content that does not belong to you, you are violating the Google Terms of Service and possibly copyright law.

When it comes to “controlling” your site, it mostly means having access to your site’s source code.

3. Your website needs to have unique and interesting content – Google Ads

Basically, this is another rule of thumb for how your website should have content that is worth monetizing. If Google finds your website full of thin pages, stolen or extracted content, content that doesn’t make sense, or content that doesn’t offer any value to a reader, it will likely reject your request.

To be honest, these are some pretty general SEO stuff. As long as you are writing your own content and it is aimed at something people really want, you are probably fine.

4. Your website needs to have clear navigation – Google Ads

Navigation is important for people to know about your website, and Google needs your team to review a website. So if this team can’t navigate, they won’t be able to get approval.

According to Google, your website should have an easily accessible menu or navigation bar, properly aligned menu bar items, legible text in the bar, items, drop-down menus, and properly functioning links.

5. Fake traffic must not circulate – Google Ads

This is a great, perhaps one of the most important, AdSense guidelines, but neither does it necessarily require you to test or determine it before you are approved for the program.

Google will test your traffic and clicks and if they find any signs that you are referring fraudulent clicks or impressions to your AdSense ads, they won’t hesitate to ban it.

6. Your content must comply with Google’s content guidelines – Google Ads

Google has a lot of restrictions on the type of content that can be on a website that they monetize. Your website cannot contain content such as adult content, pornography, shocking content, threats, excessive profanity, pirated content, malware, drug content, gun sales, etc.

“Anything obscene, illegal, adult, violent, hateful or harmful” is for the most part not allowed. Make sure your website follows all of your rules before you apply.

Your website can be bilingual with content in an unsupported language as long as most of the content on the website is in a supported language.

Note that some of these languages ​​are supported by AdSense display ads, but not by the AdSense dashboard. In addition, Google can introduce support for other languages ​​at any time.

9. Your website must not have any abusive experience

An “Abusive Experience” website is a website that has a defined set of manipulative, harmful, false, or misleading practices that Google prohibits. In principle, anything that makes a site appear to be attempting to defraud users, steal information, deliver malicious software, or otherwise commit fraud is prohibited.

The latter requirements are not mentioned anywhere in Google’s documentation, but they could be a reason your website was rejected when you apply, or they could be a reason you were accepted but not getting much from the program. It is a good idea to check these boxes before attempting to apply to get the best experience possible.

10. You should have technical pages

Google doesn’t really say this anywhere, but a page is far more likely to be rejected from the program if it doesn’t have technical pages that build trust with a brand. The technical pages in this case are the big three pages: the Privacy Policy page, the About page, and the Contact Us page.

Having an About page helps users trust that you are who you say you are and that there is some level of legitimacy behind your brand. Plus, having a contact page with information like address and phone number makes them more reliable than a brand that is unreachable.

11. Your website must be at least six months old

This is another “unwritten” guideline that isn’t actually a guideline but can affect a large number of applicants. Basically, when AdSense started, it was easy to apply and get approved. Eventually, Google realized that they had a problem with tons of new, low-quality websites that were consuming a lot of money and started raising their standards. Almost all of the above rules were found and had to be banned. One way to prevent some level of abuse on your website by Google is to have a less than six months old page. If you only created your website last week, is expressly restricted.

12. You need enough traffic

Google doesn’t necessarily reject a website because it doesn’t have enough traffic when it might. However, if you don’t have enough traffic, you won’t be making enough money to get paid in the first place.
