G20 Summit 2023: The third G20 Tourism Working Group (TWG) meeting is set to take place in Kashmir starting from May 22-24, 2023, marking the biggest-ever multi-national event to take place in Srinagar.

At least 60 delegates from G20 countries and 20 journalists from other parts of the world have been invited to attend the event, with the Jammu and Kashmir authorities making elaborate arrangements for the meeting.

Security has been heightened in the Valley due to a suspected 26/11-type terror plan, which was exposed following the revelations of a detained over-ground worker (OGW). Last-minute changes were made to the TWG conference itinerary as a precautionary measure. A local singer, Bilal Ahmad, thanked the government for giving the opportunity to Kashmir to host the prestigious event.

The Kashmir Police also issued a public advisory against international mobile numbers allegedly being used to spread false rumors about the G20 event in the Valley. G20 Summit 2023. Under India’s G20 Tourism Track, the Tourism Working Group is working on five interconnected priority areas – Green Tourism, Digitalization, Skills, Tourism MSMEs, and Destinations.

The Ministry of Tourism is finalizing two key deliverables of the Tourism Working Group, which will be presented in the fourth Tourism Working Group meeting and Ministerial meeting. A side event on ‘Film Tourism for Economic Growth and Cultural Preservation’ is also being organized which focuses on strategies to promote film tourism.

G20 Summit 2023:G20 member countries, invited countries, international organizations, and industry stakeholders are expected to attend the event. The third G20 Tourism Working Group meeting marks the highest participation ever recorded in such an event, with delegates from G20 countries, guest countries, and international organizations expected to experience the scenic beauty, handicrafts, cuisine, and culture of the Valley.
