Adipurush: Release in IMAX Shelved; The Flash to Take Over All Shows. Adipurush, the highly anticipated Prabhas-starrer, is all set to hit theaters worldwide this week.
With advance booking already underway in some overseas territories to a great response, it is expected to be a massive opening in the home market. However, plans to release Adipurush in IMAX have been dropped due to the presence of another big film.
The Flash, a Warner Bros. superhero movie, is scheduled for release in India on June 15, a day before its release. Since IMAX rules prevent two films from being released on the same day, the release of Adipurush in IMAX has been shelved.
A source informed Bollywood Hungama, “The movie is arguably the grandest film ever made in India. The makers felt that it’s apt that it gets a release in the IMAX screens. But that won’t be possible as Warner Bros had booked the IMAX screens much in advance.”
The source added, “The teaser launch of the movie on October 2, 2022, carried the IMAX logo. But then the film was pushed by almost 5 months. Until the first week of April 2023, the assets and posters of the movie did carry the IMAX logo after which it stopped. The trailer, which was launched on May 9, also didn’t feature the IMAX logo.”
An industry insider commented, “A film like Adipurush should have been released in IMAX. But alas, that’s how IMAX management functions.”

The movie stars Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Devdatta Nage, Sunny Singh, and Vatsal Sheth. Directed by Om Raut of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior fame, the film will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam on June 16, 2023.
Ram Charan Joins the Bandwagon: Adipurush
Following the footsteps of Ranbir Kapoor, the latest to join the bandwagon is Ram Charan. Reportedly, he is set to purchase 10,000 tickets for the release of Adipurush. It is a great gesture to support the movie and promote it.
It was all set to be released in IMAX but due to the IMAX rules, the plan has been shelved. Despite this, the excitement around the Prabhas starrer is at its peak. With Ram Charan joining the bandwagon, it is sure to take a smashing opening. Adipurush releases worldwide on June 16, 2023.
